Horsley Towers Wedding Photography by Nick Ray
Here is a selection of favourites from Lily and Tim’s gorgeous wedding at Horsley Towers in Surrey. Heavy rain eventually gave way to blue skies and Lily and Tim were eager to make the most of the evening sunshine for a second round of photographs and I was only too happy to oblige! It was lovely to see some familiar faces as I had photographed Lily’s brother’s wedding last year.
This is the day in their own words:
“We both wanted to have a traditional church wedding but with a relaxed, rustic, handmade feel with a couple of subtle nods to my Dutch heritage and Tim’s upbringing on a dairy farm. For favours we had Dutch wedding clogs personalised and shipped over from Holland and filled them with milk bottle sweets. We wanted to make as much as we could and wanted all our touches to run across the whole wedding. My sister-in-law designed all our wedding stationery and Tim’s mum made our beautiful wedding cake; she made the flowers on top from sugar which looked exactly like the bouquets!
Our search for the perfect wedding venue seemed to take a very long time, however, when we first visited Horsley Towers we were amazed! As you enter the unassuming driveway to find what around the corner was simply beautiful! It was a cross between a castle and a French chateau and seemed to have so much history with lovely nooks and crannies for perfect pictures. We knew we wanted to use Nick for our photos as he had photographed my brother’s wedding and knew his style would really suit our wedding theme and venue.
The day was just perfect and the weather did come good in the end. We have so many great memories, especially the speeches, my dad was very nervous and I was so proud of him when he had done it.
My advice for anyone who has an upcoming wedding it would be not to obsess about the weather! I did for about a week before the wedding and we still had an amazing day, if anything the rain added bit of character to the day!”

“I just wanted to say thank you so much for our wedding photographs, they are beautiful and really capture the style of our day. We have had so many compliments on them! I literally look through them daily at the moment. I’m currently trying to choose which ones to put into a picture frame for our mums for Christmas. It’s so hard to choose!”
