Petersham Nurseries Wedding Photographer
A wonderful intimate summer wedding with Simone and Nick and their families and friends. It was a lovely opportunity to photograph their wedding reception at the beautiful Petersham Nurseries in Richmond because it’s one of my very favourite places, and I live nearby! It’s a tranquil oasis of calm on the edge of London, especially in midsummer with plants in full bloom. Wherever I pointed my camera I could see a photo to be taken.
This is the story in their own words:
“We had been engaged nearly 3 years and having our son during this time we finally decided to start planning our big day. After writing a long guest list and searching for the perfect wedding spot in our home country, New Zealand, we realised the day was turning into a rather large affair which we hadn’t really wanted, so we decided to have a small informal wedding in London with our immediate family and closest friends. We were married at Islington Town Hall in the grand Council Chamber, followed by a late lunch at the picturesque Petersham Nurseries, which we had fallen in love with after visiting the previous year, and what London wedding would be complete without a black cab as a wedding car!
We wouldn’t change a thing!
In the evening we took a boat trip up the Thames to the Swan pub in Richmond right on the river. We made our invitations and place names together which doubled as wedding favours: Eiffel Tower and Big Ben key rings with brown name tags tied to them to represent Paris where we got engaged and our London wedding. Everything just fell into place and we had the most magical day. Delicious seasonal food and the beautiful setting at the Glasshouse Restaurant, our parents coming all the way from New Zealand and watching our son on the boat ride up the Thames squealing with delight as the wind blew his hair. We ended the evening enjoying a few drinks on the river as the sun went down. I wouldn’t change a thing!”
